Someone wrote an article about my app! Check it out here: Anki Aniki: Learn All Kanji for the JLPT. I had no idea this was written last month (I just found it). It’s really cool to read articles about my work, especially when it is detailed and informative. The author of this article describes my app better and in more detail than I ever have!

The project I have been working on for the last four months has finally been released on the Google Play market! Version 1.0 of Anki Aniki is now available! I’m super happy that I finally finished this app (version 1 of it anyway. Development never sleeps). Anyway, without further ado I present:

Anki Aniki

I’m actually not sure if I mentioned Anki Aniki on here yet, so I’ll go over it from the beginning. Anki Aniki means “Memorization Bro” or maybe more loosely translated as “Study Buddy.” Anki Aniki is a Japanese learning application specifically designed for mastering the kanji on the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (all levels). I have downloaded many similar apps from the market but none did everything I wanted them to. I took aspects I liked from the lacking ones, added some new ideas of my own, and came up with a more powerful learning tool than the other apps I tried. This was mainly to help myself learn more kanji, but I also wanted to make a fun, stylish, and easy-to-use app for everyone to enjoy.

Here are some screenshots of Anki Aniki in action:

Anki AnikiThe homescreen. There is a progress bar beneath the logo that tracks how many kanji you’ve learned and how many you’ve memorized.

Anki AnikiLearned Daily Kanji list. Critical items (kanji you get wrong in quizzes a lot) are highlighted.

The more often you correctly answer a kanji item in a quiz, the less often you will see it in quizzes. Eventually, if you get it correct enough, you won’t see it for an entire month. If you still know it when it comes around in a quiz again, it’s marked as 100% memorized. Conversely, if you get a kanji wrong a lot in a quiz, it will keep showing up again and again until you remember it!

Anki AnikiYou have to wait a full day before you get new kanji and you can take a new quiz.

I intend to add many more features to this app (especially if it proves successful). Got an Android device? Learning Japanese? Check out Anki Aniki and give it a whirl! Let me know what you think. If you like it, please recommend it to your friends! There is a free version of the app that has ads and a paid version that is ad-free for $2.99 (one-time fee). Links for downloading:

After six long developments of development, I’ve finally finished my first full feature, paid Android app! It’s called “Bookeep” and it’s a stylish, easy to use, powerful finance management / book keeping application. It can be used to track spending habits, budget and view statistics/graphs/charts about your finances. It supports multiple international currencies as well as custom categories!

You can also export your data to CSV files to be used in Excel or other spreadsheet program as well as backup your data.

Here are some screenshots of the finished version program (version 1.0):

I put a lot of work into this app and I’m very proud of it! I am always open to new ideas and suggestions. I have many more apps I want to make in the future, but I plan to add more features to this app as well, so keep the suggestions coming. In the meantime, please download my app, rate it and share it! The Pro version includes Statistics and is $1.99 – otherwise there is a free version that is completely ad free! Enjoy!

We just released our second game at Spel Software! This game is called Spel Memory. It is a simple memorization game, but one that hasn’t been in the Google Play store yet. Here are some screenshots of the game and a download link at the bottom. This one is free and has no ads! Feel free to check it out if you have an Android device, pass it around to your friends, and of course rate us!

I just released my first game working with Spel Software. I mentioned that I was invited to work with Spel in a previous post. We are currently working on getting our website live as well.

Our first game, Spel Blackjack was just released yesterday. It started off as just kind of a ‘practice app’ but grew into a legitimate game with all of the features one would expect. I designed the interface myself. Here are some screenshots of the game:

We’re pretty happy with how it turned out. Our next project will be an original game. I won’t talk too much about it just yet, because we haven’t gotten a lot of the details hammered out yet. For now, feel free to download and rate Spel Blackjack on Google Play and spread the word. See the links below to download!
