Los Angeles Day 4

Posted on Monday January 14, 2013 at 11:55pm in ,

This is our last full day in Los Angeles. I didn’t really take any photos on the last day because I had already packed my camera so I think this will be the last post about my trip to LA. It’s sad that I’m finishing writing about it. While writing about it, it’s like I got to do it all over again – but now we’re at the end of the journey again! It’s already been a full week since I got back and I just had my first full day as a salaried worker at JB Systems today. Anyway, here’s day 4:

Our hosts got Ai a huge bouquet of flowers for her birthday. They told her to clip her favorite and put it in her hair for the day.

For lunch Ai wanted somewhere on the beach, healthy, and cheap. That was kind of hard to search for. Best I could do was on the beach and cheap. I dunno how healthy it was – I chose Beach Pizza.

Atsushi had to get some cash after lunch, so we went to a bank.

When we had cash and were ready to go, we headed to the Getty Center. I wasn’t sure what it was, but it was a museum / garden. It was a very pretty place.

This was my favorite room, though.

Back outside – the beautiful city of Los Angeles.

When we finished seeing all of the sights at the museum, we planned to go to Little Tokyo. By the time we got there it was already dark out. The days went by so quickly! I guess it didn’t help that the sun sets at 5pm in winter…

Little Tokyo!

It was like a small slice of Japan. So many Japanese people. All of the shops had Japanese signage, you could order in Japanese at the restaurants. It was really cool. LA has a large Japanese community.

We ate at this restaurant.

We went into a shop called Maneki-neko. I wanted to buy many things, but I held back.

Ai’s big sword.

Just outside the shop there was a performer named Arthur Nakame playing. He was a “one man band.” He was super impressive! Apparently he had just been on the Jimmy Kimmel Show.

Ai took a video of his last song. He asked us our names and used them in his song, “Lonely Lonely Night.” It was really fun sitting and listening to him play.

After listening, we went to eat at the place pictured above. It was a true taste of Japan. Super delicious!

Well, that’s about it for the LA trip. That was our last meal in LA. It was a good last meal. The next day we woke up, had a small breakfast together, went to the beach one last time, and then went to turn in our car. We took a shuttle to the airport and said goodbye. Well, said goodbye to Ai for the last time. Atsushi came back to Eau Claire, at least for another month. I was sad to say goodbye, but that’s only because our memories were so fond and worth holding on to.
