This weekend was a lot of fun. On Saturday I had a takopa, or takoyaki party, with the new Japanese students. Before we could have a takopa though, we had to get some octopus – the main ingredient. Since you can’t buy it anywhere in Eau Claire, we had to go to Minneapolis’ Asian Market, United Noodles. Here are some pictures I took along the way.

The fog looked really nice on the snowy trees.
Finally, United Noodles!
We started the party kind of late, so everyone was pretty hungry. We started the cooking immediately:
Hitomi is from Osaka, which is famous for Takoyaki. So we wanted her to do most of the cooking…
Tetsushi decided to give it a shot, too.
We cooked takoyaki for nearly 3 hours, eating the whole time. It was a lot of food, so everyone got really full. Then, we also had mochi-ice cream, which is a powdered, chewy rice ball with ice cream inside. We got strawberry and vanilla. This was always one of my favorite Japanese sweets.

Everyone. The guy on the far left is Park, he is from Korea.
Bryan and everyone else also liked the takoyaki.
And Olivia liked the mochi-ice cream!
