I celebrated my 21st birthday twice, so this will be split into two sections. First, the day before my birthday I moved out of the dorms and back home. Chris was in town for the weekend and helped out.

Moving out didn’t take too long. I was done in about 2 hours and back home. In the evening, we planned to go out to the bars together at midnight for my birthday. The plan was to go to Chris’ house, but we instead went to Bryan’s. We had a fire in the back yard while we waited until midnight.

Soon, it was midnight and time to head to the bars. The plan was to head over to the Grand Illusion and get the signature drink, the Grand Delusion. School had just ended so we expected everyone to have gone back to their homes and not be out at the bars. Unfortunately, the bars were packed. And hot.

Because of the congestion, the G.I. was all out of Grand Delusions! Shocking… Went with a gin and tonic instead. Larry’s treat.

Bryan and I carved our names to forever remember our presence there.
We ran into Kyoko (also celebrating her 21st birthday at midnight), Yuki and Matt at the G.I.
After finishing a drink at the G.I. we moved on to Brothers. We saw Matt there and also I saw an old co-worker. He offered to buy me a drink, but only had one dollar. He gave me the dollar. We kept drinking.
Sayaka and Hiroko showed up at Brothers to drink with us. At Brothers we got free drinks all night because it was our birthday. Had some drinks at Brothers and then Larry wanted to go to Shenanigans. No one wanted to, but he insisted it would be a good experience just to dance for a while. The main reason no one wanted to go to Shenan’s is because it’s known for being too loud, too crowded, and too dark. All the bars were beginning to look like that anyway, so we went to Shenan’s.
Didn’t get any photos there because all we did was dance on wet floor in the dark. It was interesting.
When we were done at Shenanigans it was getting to be 2. So far we had many drinks and I had yet to spend a single dollar. In fact, with the dollar given to me by my friend, I was up a dollar. Bryan wanted to go to Wigwam, a bar farther away from the main drag that wouldn’t be so crowded. We were pretty much the only people there.

Bryan and I.
The only problem was the loud country music. I wanted to change the music, so I went to the jukebox to put on some Metallica. I picked two songs and used my one dollar I received earlier in the night. As soon as we sat down, two things happened. The music I selected came on, and then the owner turned it way, way down. It was soon replaced by loud country radio. Dollar well spent…
We got a pitcher of Spotted Cow, Wisconsin’s best beer.
